Columbus and his crew sailed in to the Lisbon harbor on January 6 on the ship called the Nina. They had successfully proved that the earth was smaller than everyone said it was. Columbus landed in Portugal and met with the Portuguese king to show him all that he had found throughout his trip.
The New Hampshire State House is thinking about changing the name 'Columbus Day' to 'Indigenous Peoples Day'. It has been a long debate for years about if Columbus should have a day named after him. I don't think that he should after how he killed, tricked, and stole from people. But, many people believe that he should have a day named after him because changing the holidays name would be like getting rid of some of our culture history.
